ECG & Pharmacology


COURSE DESCRIPTION

The adult ECG & Pharmacology Course addresses a key knowledge gap in electrocardiogram (ECG) and pharmacology, and focuses on specific ECG recognition skills and drug treatment knowledge.
The course is a pre-course option for ACLS students and other healthcare providers, or is also intended for ACLS students who complete ACLS pre-course self-assessment and find they need to improve their knowledge.

COURSE CONTENT

ECG
• Heart anatomy
• Basic electrophysiology
• Normal ECG measurements
• Basic arrhythmias


Pharmacology
• Basic ACLS drugs and usage
• Drugs, doses and routes of administration during cardiovascular emergencies
• Integrating basic drug pharmacology into ACLS algorithms

COURSE FORMAT

Classroom-based (instructor and video, with skills conducted throughout)

Course length is 6.25 for both units. ECG unit is 3.5 hours and Pharmacology is 2.75 hours.

Only course available to focus on this critical knowledge
• Flexible instructional format with two units – ECG and Pharmacology –  that be taught together or separately
• Fifty-page Student Workbook with colorful illustrations to be used before, during and after the course
• Open to any Instructor to teach with no requirement to be affiliated with an American Heart Association Training Center
• Instructor CD with instructor notes, lesson maps and administrative documents

CERTIFICATION

ECG & Pharmacology Course Completion Certificate

This is a classroom-based course that is instructor led to present both modules, ECG and Pharmacology, together or separately depending on the need.

Written Exam

  • For the ECG Pharmacology level, there is a written exam (Multi-Choice) of which you will be required to pass with at least 84%
