COURSE DESCRIPTION

Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Course is a classroom course that teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials.  This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. 

AHA’s course uses the PACT acronym (Protect, Act, Clean, Tell) and slogan, “Make a PACT, Know How to Act,” to help students learn and easily recall bloodborne pathogens training. 

Students learn how to:
•  Protect themselves from exposure to bloodborne pathogens
•  Act when exposed to blood or blood-containing materials in the workplace
•  Clean themselves and the area when exposed to blood or blood-containing materials in the workplace
•  Tell or report any exposure to blood or blood-containing materials in the workplace

Ideal for learners who prefer group interaction and feedback from an instructor
• Content is based on the PACT acronym to reinforce critical learning points
• Designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction
• Available for first-time or renewal bloodborne pathogens training
• Each student receives their own high quality course materials

Teaches students how to protect themselves from bloodborne pathogens in the workplace, as well as how to react when exposed, take proper steps to clean themselves and the area after exposure, and report any exposure to blood or blood-containing materials. The student workbook covers the general OSHA Standard 1910.1030 for first-time or renewal bloodborne-pathogens training, and is intended for anyone with a reasonable chance for occupational exposure to blood or blood-containing materials. Includes a course completion card.


Written Exam

  • This is now OPTIONAL, for this course!  The Instructors main focus is to make sure that you are practicing (performing) all of the required SKILLS on the manikin properly.  As Practice make perfect!
  • If you successfully pass this course, you will receive a certification card, while at the course.  Guaranteed!
