Course Information:
Heartsaver CPR is designed for (lay responders) businesses and groups that request CPR and (FBAO) Foreign Body Airway Obstruction but are not developing a public access defibrillation program. It is also the shortest lay rescuer CPR course to offer a credential. Participants in a heartsaver CPR Course must achieve a minimum score of 84% on a written examination and successfully complete a skills evaluation in CPR (adult or infant and child) and relief of FBAO in the responsive victim.
Successful participants are issued a course completion documentation (a credential).
The curriculum is approximately 3 to 6 ½ hours in length and consist of 2 modules: adult CPR and infant and child CPR. These modules are each approximately 3 hours in length (the adult module can be slightly shorter, and the infant and child module can be slightly longer). These modules can be offered separately or combined as a 6 to 6 ½ –hour course.
*FYI: If student(s) complete the course with the required passing score of 84% or better, then the Instructor will issue a "certification card" at the end of the course (guaranteed).!
Hands-Only CPR
*Became an official "protocol" - April 2008
The American Heart Association's 2005 guidelines recommend compressions-only CPR for anyone who is unwilling (apprehensive) or unable to provide ventilations while providing chest compressions and actively encourages Emergency Medical Dispatchers to provide instructions for compression-only CPR to bystanders at the scene of a presumed cardiac arrest.

|
Lets be REALISTC, nobody wants to bother with mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing when an Adult victim is... <<VOMITING!
This is why the American Heart Association has endorsed "Hands-Only CPR" as an official protocol for Adult victims only (8 yrs and older).
|
*Doing something (hands-only CPR) is always better than doing nothing at all!!
|
|
Now, if and when a "barrier device" does becomes available, then you will need to proceed with providing rescue breaths!
